About Metallica

Metallica formed in Los Angeles in 1981 when drummer Lars Ulrich placed a newspaper ad looking for musicians. James Hetfield responded and the pair began writing music that would soon change heavy metal forever.

Their early albums such as Kill ‘Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets helped define thrash metal. Later releases like The Black Album made them global rock superstars.
