Metal or Made Up is a free daily game where you are shown five band names and must decide which are real metal bands and which were invented. Some of the real ones — like Cattle Decapitation, Goatwhore, and Sunn O))) — sound completely made up but have been genuine touring bands for decades. A new set of five drops every midnight.
Each round shows you a band name and a genre tag. Press Metal if you think it is a real band, or Made Up if you think we invented it. After each answer a fact reveals the truth — explaining why the band exists or why the name sounds convincing. Score 3 or more out of 5 to register a win.
Yes — every band marked as real is a genuine metal act you can find on streaming services and metal databases. Some of them are bestselling acts, some are cult underground bands. Napalm Death, Cattle Decapitation, Alestorm, Bongzilla, Pig Destroyer, and Sunn O))) are all very much real — and all genuinely excellent.
There are two streaks. Your play streak goes up every day you play, regardless of score — just like Duolingo. Your perfect streak only goes up when you score 5 out of 5. Miss a day and both streaks reset. Your best ever perfect streak is saved permanently.
